Many websites give you the option to change your username whenever you want, like Instagram, YouTube, Twitter but on Reddit you don’t have that option because if you want to change your username you only have to create a new account. To be clear, it’s not possible to change the username on Reddit after creating an account. Additionally, disabling a Reddit account does not make the username available automatically; And you can create your new account with the same email address or without any email address.
How to change your reddit username
Open your web browser and go to the Reddit page.
Note: I am using a computer, for those using a mobile device the steps may be slightly different.
Go to the top right corner of the Reddit webpage, click the drop-down menu for your username, then click Log Out which is at the bottom of the window.
You will see a blue button at the top right that says Sign Up, Click on it.
In the new window, you have the option to sign in with your Google, Apple or email account. In this post, I’ll be using the username and password to Sign in into Reddit.
Enter your email in the field box, then click the continue button. If you don’t want to enter your email address that’s fine, just click the Continue button, as it’s not something that is required to have an account on Reddit.
A new window will open, enter your preferred username and password.
Check the box “I’m not a robot” and take the google captcha version three challenge.
When you’re done, click Sign Up.
In the “ Find communities by topics you’re interested in ” window, join at least five communities, then click Finish.
If you created the account without an email address, you will see a message at the bottom that says “… add your email to verify your Reddit account“.
To add an email address to your account, click Add email at the bottom of the screen.
